This first successful upload is about the third time that I have computed this synth successfully and the fourth or fifth time that I have attempted it.

Unfortunately, the previous version has a better composed point cloud than this one. When you are dealing with this many images, the order that you select images in does have some effect on the outcome of the point cloud, although every time a synth is computed, every photo is compared to every other.

These photos were taken on 2012 July 14th. I had gotten together with my youngest brother and parents to spend some time in a local park and while we were there my father wanted to test his recenly purchased video camera's ability to take stills. (a Sony HDR-CX700V)

I, meanwhile, used his Olympus E-PL1 to take photos for a handheld panorama (viewable here: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=df8333d6-541e-4a8f-aac1-3c709a86f8ef ).

He finished his tests, while I continued to capture input shots for my panorama (517 total) and caught up with my mother and brother. When I was finished, I took a few shots of various rock sculptures that someone had composed along the sandbar.

This synth is composed of all of my shots for my panorama (typically not good material for photosynths), all of his shots of various rock sculptures, as well as my shots intended to reconstruct the sandbar in point cloud form (although I ran out of memory card space before I got all the shots that I wanted).

As noted above, sadly the reconstruction here is not as good as the previous try (notably, there are two different reconstructions of the sandbar at two different elevations, even in the primary point cloud), however the previous try failed to upload, forcing me to repeat the 14 - 16 hour calculation for this synth.

I may retry this synth again, but not this weekend.
