Topic: Request: Allow the Map to Zoom In Further

Recently I've been wishing that I could zoom in just a little further on the map when geo-tagging and browsing synths.

This is the area that inspired this request: (Switch to 'Aerial' after loading.)

Zooming in to level 20 is okay for geotagging, but it's frustrating to not be able to zoom in far enough that no more pushpins are clustered.

If geo-alignment comes back, then I definitely want to be able to zoom in further to align the synth's point cloud to the orthographic imagery.

This is true, even if no higher resolution map tiles are available.
I would gladly accept oversampled map tiles in place of frustratingly small orthographic details which are not overly pixelated.

Great example of the sad Bing Maps quality I refer to frequently.

ツ There's room for improvement, but I can't find a single other online map provider that has better quality than Bing Maps in this area.

Here's a little comparison:

Keep in mind that many governments make it illegal to capture aerial images beyond certain resolutions. When legal restrictions change, it takes a while to capture/process/publish the higher resolution images. http://bit.ly/2014dgres | http://bit.ly/2014satimres

You may notice DigitalGlobe's WorldView-2 satellite mentioned in the above stories.
Bing helped fund its launch in 2009. http://bit.ly/bingrocket1 | http://bit.ly/bingrocket2

Overall, Bing does pretty well in the USA + east Europe. Look up their Global Ortho Project.

Here + Yahoo both license this imagery.

Cannot say that this is great imagery here

This is what I would call good imagery, but a little north of it, it has become poor. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Kyftenbeltlaan,+3871+Hoevelaken,+The+Netherlands/@52.1709995,5.4529215,44m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x47c6463dbe2130e9:0xa5e7ada36e974a55?hl=en

Why does image quality change so much over time? I have seen better Bing Maps quality at some of these places too.
