Topic: Concurrent upload issue...

For the first time I have been uploading more than 2 synths in parallel. The first time 6, the second time only 4. Using IE11 desktop with multiple tabs. Recurring x photos upload failures with retry option. Could there be a browser memory issue here or something?

Refer also Nate's thread http://photosynth.net/discussion.aspx?cat=00581351-82d8-438d-a37b-7eadb3fb4991&dis=1db84fbd-cf7a-451b-8c82-0c447b4a2e50

To add, using the Retry option, I could finish the uploads without restart.

I've dealt with this quite a bit since December.

It seems to be rather hit or miss as to whether the 'Retry' option works or not.

I don't see a dedicated thread but I did reference it briefly in these two:

Even when the 'Retry' option seems to work for me, I often have to nudge 'retry' multiple times before all of the photos finish uploading.

In some cases where 'Retry' hasn't worked for me, I've discovered by opening a new tab and navigating to the Tech Preview homepage that my cookie has expired and I am no longer signed in (which explains why 'Retry' would likely (although not always, strangely) fail.

Joscelin, where are your photos stored, in relation to the computer uploading them? External disk?

My photos are stored in a OneDrive folder, which is available local.

To add, a mirrored disc configuration.

Meanwhile. I have diminished the number of tabs to four and have reused them for consecutive uploads with the 'Create another synth' option. After doing this several times, I ran into IE11 desktop 'not responding' and greying out. On two tabs uploads where in progress. This happened when I tried to go to the 3rd tab. The uploads in progress did finish correctly.
You're probably hitting memory limits in the browser if you are using multiple tabs to upload at the same time. We recommend against it.

Thanks David. For me it is a relatively rare to have many consecutive uploads, but for people with slow internet connections, I feel it should be possible to start multiple uploads and have them go overnight, for example.

My machine has 8 GB of RAM. So, running out of machine RAM would be a surprise.

Is there any chance that there might be a communication time-out between browser and server?
