Topic: Suggestion: On the Preview profile page, number the synths in chronological order

Currently when loading someone's profile page their synths are displayed in reverse chronological order.
This is good. Their latest work is probably what anyone viewing the page is interested in.

Also currently, when panning through the thumbnails to these synths, a URL fragment is appended to the profile's URL.
This is also good.

However... the URL fragment is a number which is ordered reverse chronologically.
In other words, my newest synth is
my second newest synth is
third newest is

I like that I can use these URLs to highlight different synths on my profile via their larger (and animating) thumbnail, but because they are numbered in reverse chronological the URL will point to the wrong synth as soon as I upload any new ones, making what could be very interesting for pointing folks to my work useless.

This seems like a pretty good--and hopefully easy--idea to me. Am floating it with the team.

I talked with one of the devs, and we discovered a problem with this idea. When looking at your own library, you see unlisted ones as well, so your most recent one may be #10, or which 7 are public and 3 are unlisted, say.

If you tried to share a URL that included say #5, it would land on a different synth for somebody who could only see your public ones. So, it wouldn't be reliable either.

We're probably not going to do a "real" share feature for this view, so I think we'll leave things the way there are now.

Fair point. I'd forgotten about unlisted synths changing things.

If it hadn't been for that, I was thinking that you could have even taken all URLs to the preview profiles and added the number of older synths + panos on an account to the integer in the fragment to still arrive at the same synth being highlighted once the new site is up and (hopefully) all uploads to an account will be listed in one continuous stream without the /preview/ inserted in the URL.

What about this idea, then? Could you add a little code to the profile page so that if I add a hash and the GUID of one of my synths to my profile URL, it would be highlighted in context of my public synths?

Yes we could, but we're not going to... Bigger fish to fry, many of which you have noted!
