Sorry to say, but after creating 319 synths, I feel that the preview web ui currently is nice in graphical design, but seriously lacks in usability and functionality.

Bear in mind that the Preview site is not yet feature complete.
We still have yet to see an updated forum layout or a new Search page.

The Search page at least ought to help round things out, especially if we are allowed to search within a category, in the same way that you can search on a YouTube profile for results from that channel's videos only.

We also have yet to see map integration or synth linking, but both of those have been mentioned as being worked toward, in addition to Search.

What sorts of functions did you have in mind, Joscelin?
Mass editing of synths?
Just finding your own content?
Exploring others' content?

What sorts of features from other social media/network sites would you like to see in the new Photosynth site?

Criticism is good, but it helps to know the problem that someone wants to be solved and if you have some ideas about the way you would (or wouldn't) like to see specific problems tackled, that's useful input as well.

We know that new mobile apps for creating the new synth types are on their way, but also bear in mind that the web UI needs to be usable across phones (which may have smaller screens than your 1520), tablets, laptops, desktops, and HDTVs.

Some responsive web design with different screen sizes displaying more or less of a particular element should certainly come into play at some point.

I will say that I would also like to see some variety in layout between different pages.

The long horizontal list of circular thumbnails works, certainly, and works across different sized screens too.

Having said that, I would appreciate the Explore pages, Home page, Profile page, etc. being visually distinguishable from each other and more geared to their specific task (which is what you're saying too, if I'm reading you correctly).

I'd love to hear more of what you had in mind.

The only thing I had in mind is to clearly voice frustration and worry. We are looking at a preview for half a year now. Taking into all account all the input on ui functionality over the years, I find the slow progress frustrating and worrying. It also seems to me that the Photosynth team is not engaging in the forum consistently. So, there is not much of a real conversation about bringing things forward. If there would be some sort of rapid development cycle in place, then we should see monthly updates in a preview stage of a product. If getting forward on its own is already slow, then Photosynth to be merged with other (moving) picture products and OneDrive looks like a forever wish. The average user should have an integrated app to shoot pics, video clips and Photosynths for story tell slideshow presentation. Material for Bing Maps should be a natural spin-off.

It would be nice to be able to reorder synths. Lately I've been doing a few 1000+ photo walks, and I tend to upload 3 or 4 200 photo walks at a time. Sometimes all of the photos don't process, so I end up re-uploading a section as a new synth that belongs in the middle of the previously uploaded synths, but instead it's the first synth in line.

Shawbum, Joscelin and I have also requested something similar in the past, if you're interested:

"Organizing ones Photosynths":
