The Windows 8.1 dialog only shows very small, square thumbnails of the photos in the folder. This makes it impossible to judge which photos to include or not because of zoom or other criteria. (Previously it was encouraged to include zoomed shots.)Since early 2010 I have been using a point and shoot that takes native 16:9. A square thumbnail is an extremely poor representation. I feel this to be a burden with photo selection in general, not only with Photosynth. Could you please pass this on to the Windows team.
Surely you could just use File Explorer and change the view to large thumbnails and drag them into the preview site in desktop Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome?
I think you have a fair criticism of the 'Metro' file picker when using 'Metro' Internet Explorer, but that's feedback for the Windows team to hear.
I'm not saying that if things really are shaping up to be 'One Microsoft' that the Photosynth team couldn't pass your feedback along, but it ultimately will be something that the Windows team needs to be the ones to address.
It would be interesting if web developers could specify "use Large Thumbnail View" for the file picker when clicking a 'Browse for files' type form on their webpage, though.
Its not just web developers, but all users who want to select photos with the Win8 file picker to upload to any service, e.g. facebook.
