If you were able to add or delete 3-D groups or pictures through your browser, photosynth would be a better, more convenient service. Instead of creating three versions of a synth, you could just edit the current version and add more photos to it. In addition, you could delete useless photos or 3-D groups that just add clutter to an otherwise good synth.

Please consider my idea.

This is a good idea, and we're working on something along these lines. Thanks for your input!

yeah, i made my first synth today and when i saw all the places i needed more pics i took a bunch more pics and then when i went to add them to my synth i couldnt find where i could edit it....because there isnt one...

this is a feature that is badly needed

There is no problem to add pics: just make a new synth with old and new pics together!

One issue with creating a new synth is the community comments are not transferred, but if it is a new synth you can delete and recreate it as a work around.

Yes, we asked for that few weeks ago: to replace a synth and keep comments, favorites, tags, geotags aso
The synth is calculated / created on your own computer, so I guess to add pictures you will allways have to send a new calculated synth, and not a part of it.
It should'nt be very difficult for a data-base manager to ask 'Replace or Cancel' if someome crates a synth with the same name ...
They wrote, they were thinking about it ...

The problem with transferring comments is that you leave the door open for people to replace a synth with a totally unrelated synth. IE, I create a great synth that gets lots of views and comments... and then I replace it with one that I snuck either spammy photos into or changed the subject of the synth.

Not to say we're not still exploring ways to allow you to edit and resynth... just pointing out one of the concerns.

Slam! Something I hadn't been thinking about! and that refers to Microsoft' responsability (as a Webmaster) for what can be seen on the website and could be forbidden.
It's an interesting subject too, as we are discussing about photografer's responsability in 'advice & ctiques'

But again: couldn't the problem be solved with the private/public option ???
If private means: I'm able to share my private synths with people I send the link, but other people won't find it by search, explore, or map.
Or may be not :-((

At least please let me delete my test synth which has no comment yet...
swami_worldtraveler (Over 1 year ago)
rock_rock, u should b able to do that already. There should b an 'X' in the upper-right. If not, try a different browser. If that doesn't work, post ur problem n computer config to the Bugs discussion forum.

Adding this feature would be an excellent way to improve this software, once you make a synth it is easy to see where more photos could be added that you didn't realize you needed before and the ability to edit a synth would make this that much better.
