Topic: PDF's in synth

I saw the Seadragon presentation where Blaise actually includes text documents in what I thought was a synth. I wanted to do a neet demonstration by zooming in or synthing in on a local paper in my synth of a street scene and then including the pdf so a viewer could go right into the paper and read what people were reading that day. I know that is totally imaginative and farfetched but so is Photosynth. What format should I convert it to?

great question!! I am interested in doing this too
The inclusion of text in the Seadragon demo was demoware that hasn't made it into a product unfortunately. For the foreseeable future Photosynth will only deal with images. So -- if you really want a page from a document to synth in, you need to "print" it to a bitmap. Not great I know.

Also -- you should know that our current matching algorithms often produce false positives on text. Two different pages of text that happen to have some lettershapes in the same place show up as matches -- causing problems. In the future we plan to integrate text recognition into the synther which would remove these false positives.

I asked in the 'get satisfaction' forum a possibility of a 'print screen' or 'capture' key, but inversed that is a black cloud / white background
so we can save ink and don't have to manipulate in a photo-editing software
