The user interface when geo-aligning the synth is fantastic and ideally that environment should be available for actually viewing the synth. IS this already possible when viewing a geo-aligned synth or has it not been implemented for the standard synth view yet?

If you're talking about being able to see the point cloud and camera frusta on top of the aerial or satellite imagery, then no, it's sadly not built into the normal view mode yet. I suggested the same thing in this discussion: (6th post)

I've actually been quite surprised that they don't even do this in the Bing Maps Beta as it seems that keeping the map visible would be very important in that case. I suspect that it is mainly a limitation of Silverlight 3's lack of real 3D and that this will be fixed when they move to Silverlight 4 if not before then.

Oh... maybe you were talking about the thumbnail strip at the bottom of the frame?

I actually hadn't seen that until just now. Thinking of that bottom row of thumbnails as well as the right hand 'Highlights' bar turned on at the same time is way too cluttered, though.

One interesting solution could be to allow people to expand the Highlights reel to the full set of images or shrink it back to just the highlights (or hide the bar completely, naturally). When expanded to all the images, highlights that have been used as highlights could be bordered in a different colour and display their title and description as the currently do.

...*images* that have been used as highlights...

It must be time for bed.
