I understand how important is Silverlight player for crossplatform access between Mac and PC users and that enables a lot more new features.

Though as a Windows user I would like to have a choice between new and old player platforms, as the original Photosynth player is much smoother and faster I would say. I already have the plug-in installed on my browser what is left is for the team to enable users to have the option between the two.

Love your work guys,

Hello Micheal, click on the ‘View Synth in Direct3D viewer’ button underneath the bottom left of the synth window and you'll have the old version back.

I hope either (1) the old viewer becomes available, or (2) Silverlight is revised to improve its feel. When I'm "panning" through a synth, I don't want to zoom in on whatever was front and center when I release the mouse button. I preferred clicking to do that. Also, the viewer seems to leave much more of the synth in the dark while panning, and seems slower to load. This destroys the whole effect. Please change this or return the original viewer to us.

Hello, as PGRic noted above the Direct3D viewer is still available to those who want to use it... but our goal is to continue improving the Silverlight viewer in performance and features.

More info about the updates can be found here:

The new viewer seems to be a step backwards! In the old wiewer I can see my synths all the way from the first picture to the last. Now with the new version it shows them in individual groups of two or three - completely spoils it! I was exited with the first version, showed it to my friends, who uploaded their own. Now I am cosidering deleting them as I don't get the original exitment anymore, the WOW factor is completely gone :(

The old viewer is still on the site as others have said above. Simply look under the lower left corner of any synth to view that synth in the old viewer.

Furthermore the groups of photos shown is identical in both players. You are mistaken about the Silverlight viewer showing different groups of photos than the Direct 3D viewer.

With the new viewer you can choose the photo that people see when they first load your synth, you can add shortcuts (called Highlights) to your favorite photos in your synths to help people not get as lost in your synths, you can choose whether the slideshow plays your photos based on the alphabetical order of their names when you uploaded them (this is new) or based on how close together they are (like the Direct 3D viewer does and like the new viewer does by default).

I'm sad that the new viewer isn't faster but it will get better and it already lets us do more. We still have the old one too, so cheer up. :)
