Topic: External resource link fields for every synth (Think Wikipedia)

So many synths try to link to or quote Wikipedia and other sources of information within the synth description or even in the synth comments.

It would be far better if, in the synth editor, we had a list blanks for common informative resources such as Wikipedia, subject's official website, video link (Vimeo, BrightCove, YouTube), etc.

The idea here is that I paste a link to the subject of the synth's Wikipedia article and fetches the title of the article automatically and either lists a Wikipedia icon and the title of the appropriate article under the synth description when the blank is not null.

Providing a way to add custom URLs and titles for sites not listed as default or common resources would also be appreciated. Again, you would fetch the favicon of the site and display a short title for the page or site just under the synth description.

All in all, I just want to see Photosynth interact with the rest of the social web.

The more websites start seeing trackbacks inbound from the better, in my estimation. That's good publicity.

Links to video could even be broken down into categories like:

Documentary of the subject of the synth
The construction of the subject of the synth
The 'making of' the synth (this could be a blog post or a podcast where someone is talking about participating in the making of the synth)

Other ideas include:
References to news clips, radio shows, etc. where this synth has been mentioned
websites where my synth has been embedded.

I know that I, for one, would eat this sort of information up.

Another category for the video would be: videos of this synth (like sir_ivar's digital elevation model, textured model of Tres Yonis, etc.)

Quite honestly it would be great if the community could at least suggest answers to some of these categories to the author, rather than always waiting for the author to add it on their own or polluting the comments on the synth with such suggestions.

With all of the above, should also come some way of notifying me if a new 'Making of' link has been posted on one of my favourite synths etc. in the same way that I am notified of new comments on synths that I have commented on.
