I can't remember what the name of that bubble stitching technology is, but realty companies use it alot.  I think you need a tripod and a fish eye lens... Useful for seeing car interiors too.

and probably a computer-drived motor to move the camera.

It's interesting to notice too that you view it in flash, and they are enormous synths (quality of the pictures you can zoom in). What about photosynth?

360 Cylindrical and Spherical imaging is where I got my start with all of this stitching stuff. It would be very cool to be able add Photosynth content to such an environment.
