Did the leaves fall off? Something not working right? Let us know how we can improve the Photosynth experience.
Fyi - the "Test" button after settign the Geotagging Advanced orientation is greyed out and doesn't work.
It still works normally for me...
Can you provide any other specific details?
If you load the synth editor again, can you duplicate the bug?
What browser are you using?
Is this before or after saving the alignment?
popbonsai - which synth in particular are you trying to edit?
I have noticed a similar issue with regards to Geotag/aligning a photosynth. When this condition occurs, a shortcut to "see this Photosynth on Bing Maps" fails to generate as well.
Free2Go, if you're geotagging+geoaligning a panorama from ICE, rather than a synth from the synther, you won't be able to test alignment or view them on Bing Maps until later this year. No firm release date has been announced other than "early summer" and "before July 4th".
If you're actually seeing this problem with synths instead of panoramas, then of course I am not helping with my explanation.
In your case where you say that a link to view the synth on Bing Maps fails to be generated (assuming that you are talking about synths and not panoramas) is the geotag and geoalignment data still saved if you reopen the synth editor?
How many images and what sort of a synthy score do these synths which are failing to get a "View this synth on Bing Maps" link have? There is a cutoff point where if your synth has too few images or too low a percentage that matched each other, the synth will not be displayed on Bing Maps, simply to protect Photosynth's reputation.
Free2Go, popbonsai - can you add links to the synths you had this problem on? This will let us troubleshoot them to see what the issue is.
Tony - Photosynth Test Lead
Thx for the info regarding geotagging/aligning panorama projects. I look forward to the release of this feature.
The geotag/align data is being saved in my project. The geotag/alignment can be edited, yet no link is created.
I have included the link below. Note that this is a demo project to test a small synth, highlights to non-synthed objects and the ability to connect to the Photosynth layer of Bing maps.
I did create (since deleted) a 0% synthy project. It geotagged/aligned, but did not create a link to the map either.
Free2Go, A synth has to meet certain requirements before we export it to Bing Maps, and I think what is happening here is that the synth you link to above is not meeting the bar (and the 0% one you mentioned certainly didnt). There are a variety of factors involved (sorry I cant be more specific), but the one most likely affecting your synth is the % synthyness. I would try creating a synth with more than one photo of the cars, or probably even better a synth of the front of the building with a bunch of cool cars parked out front. This will synth better and be more interesting to our users.
Please feel free to send me an email if you have any further questions on this.
