Topic: Instances of Errors for: Overhead View: It isn't looking straight down.

This is a new type of error thread where, for a specific feature of Photosynth, (in this case Overhead View), we list all examples of the specific error that we know of. This will help to organise bug reports.

For the most part this is only about reporting which synths have this error. Let Photosynth team members list reasons why this has happened if they want to, but try to keep the topic tidy, not going into long personal speculations of why it isn't working.

Please feel free to adopt my format for other features where you think there may be a fair number of the same sort of error, even going as far as copying and pasting this introduction for other features' topics.

Please stay on topic. This topic is *only* about synths where entering overhead view does not look straight down at the top of objects in the pointcloud.

These don't surprise me, Nathanael. We don't calculate a very good up vector for aerial synths. We need to add a flag when synthing to let someone tell us the photos were shot like this.

Blimey I've just seen three of my synths mentioned here!!! First off I have to make the fawning noob comment, please let me get this out the way......

Woooooah coolio what an amazing thing, you guys are all gods.

Now down to my complaints, I don't actually have any.

I am wondering why such an amazing product does not have a more dynamic community attached to it.

In the UAV world we have several I run a very slow one, and there is a mucho better one at now the reason I mention them is that problems can be solved by asking at them.

Moving around here its not very dynamic and quite frankly pretty dated.

Or am I missing something??

All that said.

Being able to make DEM type images from 2D photos, awesome, thanks dev team, top job.
