Photosynth lost all the halos (over 10) in the latest SB Courthouse version 7:

(The upside is it synthed 1,464 photos at 100%!)
Marvin (Over 1 year ago)
Hi EdLee.
I'm going to look into this a bit. My current best guess is that the synther ran out of memory during this portion of the code so you got nothing.
EdLee (Over 1 year ago)
Hi Marvin, thanks. Your guess sounds very plausible. The halos disappeared at 1,464 photos but came back at 1,499 photos. :)
Marvin (Over 1 year ago)
Yeah, that kinda goes against my intuition, but I don't see another reason why 5+ halos would suddenly dissappear (and then reappear). Could it be that when you ran the 1499 photos you happend to have more memory available (maybe you restarted your machine, and killed a bunch of processes running in the background)?

Marvin re: processes.......I found it works out better when I power off the PC, then after rebooting kill every unnecessary process. My last synth (1002 photos) took a long time but never crashed.

EdLee, curious how big your log file is for the big courthouse synth. The log file for

(Martello Tower) is 741kb
EdLee (Over 1 year ago)
Marvin, I think your guess is correct. Now I try to kill off any process that seems unnecessary, so I'm probably getting more memory than the 1,464 synth. And it's around 40 halos that disappeared. :)

LostinTheTriangle, how do I find the log file?
Marvin (Over 1 year ago)
Open explorer and write:

EdLee (Over 1 year ago)
Marvin, thanks.
LostinTheTriangle: The biggest log file for 1,499 pix is 666K. For 1,473 pix, 659K. Since the log text file contains the full directory path of each photo, if all the photos sit in C:\folderA\, then the log file will be smaller than if they are in C:\folderA\folderB\folderC\folderD\LongNameToTakeUpSpaceInLogFile\ :)

Thanks for the info Marvin. (now I am curious again about just how many pics the program will let me go!)
