My thanks goes to the Photosynth team for a lot of hard work over the last few months. Lots of new features have been added to aid in the viewing of synths.

Will take some getting used to, but maybe that's a problem for new users and explores to the site. The Highlight feature will help a lot for exploring "the larger)synths!

Some people I have asked to look at the site seem to get confused as to what to do once they arrive. I fear with even more power (extra buttons) it might scare some of them off. Perhaps an option to have a simpler navigation for the newbies.

Oh, I just saw the "View Synth in Direct 3D viewer" at the bottom left.

A Bug?.......While loading the Martello Tower to edit the highlights, I just had a "this synth has (may have) been deleted" error!

Update......Seems okay now.

Again thanks to everyone........lostinthetriangle

I was also getting the "deleted" message but after refreshing the browser it seems okay now.

Some terrific new features. The frame highlighting is a wonderful addition and I just hope people use it (it was a struggle for most to add any details). Transition speed is going to take some getting used to, but hopefully the LL team will improve it somewhat. Sorry to see the halos go, but there's always the D3D option.

Well done guys.

Please change it back! I love Photosynth for the point clouds. All my synths are made with point clouds in mind. Now all my point clouds look muddy and low-res. I prefer the sparse, hi-res point clouds much better! Robert

robert_sprout, use the D3D (View Synth in Direct3D Viewer) button to see synths the "old" way.

@Robert, we all love the point cloud so we're not giving up on it as a tade for the Silverlight viewer... it is something we're going to continue working on. (Also, if your browser window is smaller the points will show up small and crisp like they did before... the larger points show when the viewer is large)

Also, more info on the new features is here:
