Discussion about the now-retired Photosynth Apps for Windows Phone and iOS.
I found you can make a more complete/larger panorama by not just taking one frame around 360 degrees on one single plane. You can move the phone (iPhone in my case) as follows: take the first pic, then move the phone up and the phone will take a second shot, then move to the right or left for next pic, then move down for next pic, then move right or left again, then move up etc. etc. The result will be a double high 360 panorama. Play with this a bit to get the best alignment of your pictures for stitching together. I presume other even larger patterns of pictures could be used that will stitch together into a large panorama.
You can in fact cover the entire sky and ground above and below you as well, for complete spherical panoramas like this one: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=5d6a220b-d391-4004-84c6-e51eded9c421
ps. check the app store we just shipped an update to 1.1 today which lets you share through email and many other cool features.
Thank, how did you move the phone to get a spherical panorama that seams together so well?
