Discussion about the now-retired Photosynth Apps for Windows Phone and iOS.
This app is awesome and very easy to use. However, I need some help with choosing the centre of the synth-ed image. I want to put a certain building as the centre but the app automatically picks the building next to it. Is it possible to manually select what goes to the centre of the panorama?
I'm using it on my Lumia 710.
If you are hoping to choose the center of your panorama for the flattened version that gets saved to your camera roll, Photosynth's mobile version of Microsoft ICE did not carry this feature over from Windows, sadly. It has been suggested as a feature for the mobile app by others as well.
If you are uploading the interactive version of your panorama to your Photosynth.net account, you can use the panorama editor here on the website to choose the beginning view of your pano, after you've signed into the website.
Thanks Nathanael. Let's hope this feature will be in the next update of the app.
I can see that I can choose the beginning view of my pano in the website, but how about if I want to export it back to an image file with the updated centre?
As of right now, I don't know of a way to export any panorama on Photosynth.net to an image file.
If you have a programmer friend, he or she should look at Henri Astre's Photosynth Toolkit (specifically PhotoSynthGrabber within the toolkit) and could probably modify it to fetch the panorama cube faces for reprojecting back into a flattened pano. Perhaps it would even be possible to generate a Microsoft ICE project which would piece the cube faces together correctly and allow you to use ICE's existing recentering controls before exporting to a flat image file.
As far as a solution that you can use today, however, I'm afraid that I don't have anything for you.
