When I try to connect with Facebook from the iPhone app I get a facebook-like page but it is totally blank. Help!

This issue is being investigated by the dev team but this authentication problem is affecting other iPhone apps that use Facebook as well at the moment.

I have the same problem: after pressing the share with facebook link, I get the Facebook authenticate block which is completely white with no options to fill in your credentials.

I have many apps on my iphone with a 'share on facebook' option and none has given me this error.

AlbertNL, is this still happening for you?

Here's a little evidence from CoolIris LiveShare, having a similar problem:

but they go on to say that Facebook's problem has now been resolved:

Here's Facebook's status page for developers:
You can keep an eye on what to expect there as well.

A quick update: the fix that Facebook released yesterday will remedy the login process for Photosynth users who had not yet not logged into Facebook. However, the issue still exists for users of Photosynth who had previously logged in, and so Facebook has reopened the bug.

Please note this issue is occuring for some, but not all, iOS apps using Facebook.

Im also still getting the blank facebook screen when photosynth is trying to connect to facebook on my iphone. I tried reinstalling facebook, but that didnt help. Are there any other work arounds?

TraceyMeintjes, unfortunately the problem is not anything to do with the Facebook app on your iPhone/iPod/iPad. The problem is on the part of Facebook's website that allows other iOS apps to talk to Facebook.

Eric asks that you just be patient and wait for Facebook to fix the problem. He does NOT recommend that you uninstall the Photosynth app because that would delete any panoramas which are stored on your iPhone.

Here is the other conversation on this topic.

While we continue waiting for the root issue to be resolved by Facebook, I've become aware of a work around that should restore Facebook login and sharing functionality.

Here's how:
1) Log into from a PC
2) Under the "Account" menu in the upper right, select "Privacy Settings"
3) Under the "Apps and Websites" header in the lower-left, select "Edit your settings"
4) In the section "Apps you use" click the "Edit Settings" button
5) In the row for Photosynth, click the "X" on the far right
6) In the dialog box, click Remove
7) In the app, now log in to Facebook

This process will essentially reset the login path for the Photosynth app and get you out of the bad state that causes the all-white login screen. Panoramas previously posted to Facebook will not be affected by this action.

Hope this helps, and as I said, we are waiting for an official fix that will make this workaround unnecesary.

The workaround works perfect. Hopefully only have to do it one time and not for every upload. Thanks!

It appears Facebook has resolved the core issue that was causing this behavior, so you should be able to login this morning without needing to use the above workaround.

I had to follow Edrick instruction to be able to upload Photosynth images to Facebook today.

EdrickPB, thanks for that workaround. It worked!
