I switched to Windows Phone 8 from 7 back in November. I couldnt wait for photosynth to come out for Windows Phone 8, I was completely let down when it came out.

I came from an HTC Radar (5mp camera) to a Lumia 920 (8 mp). The Photosynths on the Radar, hung around 5mp usually in the higher 3.x mp to 4.5+mp and even 5mp; this was complete sphere photosynths. The quality was actually really good for a little 5mp on a Radar.

Now with my Lumia 920 i was stoked because the quality should be amazingly better. However, not once have i had a photosynth above 3.5 mp on the Lumia, they're usually in the low 2.x range.

My question is, why does my Radar shoot better with windows phone 7 than a Lumia 920 with Windows Phone 8?

** Before anyone posts about "good resolution" photosynths, I understand completely that i can do it on a computer with ICE and Photosynth. I simply want to use the app and create a synth, its much easier and i dont have to connect to a computer.

and a follow up question:

sometimes i want to just do a simple panorama to the right or left or up and down. It turns out to be just 2 pictures stitched but the MP is always SO low.

Does it matter if the synth is 2 or 20 pictures, the quality is always reduced?
