Can’t seem to get something to synth right? Curious about what lens is best? Ask your fellow Photosynthers here.
I created a synth yesterday but all the photos didn't upload. I am trying to find those photos to add the ones that didn't successfully upload so that my synth is complete. How do I do this? The original successful photos have been deleted from my card.
So... if I understand you correctly the photos that you didn't manage to include in yesterday's synth are still on your camera's memory card but the photos that were included in your synth are missing. Is this correct?
If so, please open a "My Computer" or "Windows Explorer" window and paste "%temp%/photosynther/" (without the quotes) into the address bar. You should be able to see the log file for the synths that you have made on this computer.
1) Find the log for yesterday's synth.
2) Open it in something like Notepad.
3) Search the log (use the [Ctrl] key plus the [F] key) for "Collection image order" (again, without the quotes).
4) Scroll down to see which folder Photosynth found the images in.
They should still be there and you should be able to move your other photos that you want to include to this folder as well so that they are all in one place.
Let me know if any of this is not clear enough and I'll try to explain it more clearly.
Wow...thanks so much! I just completed one with the remainder of the photos on my card (less the ones from yesterday). If I follow the directions above, add them to the folder of the new synth, will it update what I created today. OR, do I begin all over again on a 3rd one?
You'll have to make a third synth that includes all the images, unfortunately.
It will take some time, as usual, to calculate how they all relate but as long as you have not edited any of the photos since the last time you uploaded them in a synth, Photosynth will save a bit of time this time around by recognising each photo that has already been uploaded to your account here on the site and not making you re-upload them.
I mainly suggested putting all your photos in one folder so that you can be sure that they all get in this next time.
All the best!

Your monitor needs to have a vertical resolution taller than 600 pixels to see the button.
If you can see the 'Synth' button, but can't press it, then make sure that you've given your synth a title in the upper left corner of the synther and added an absolute minimum of three photos. The title's likely what you're missing.
If your screen is too short to see the synth button, then just add your photos, type a title for the synth, then click in either the 'Tags' or 'Description' fields and press the [Enter] key on your keyboard.
Authenication error. What am i doing wrong? within the create synth i have tried adding 6 photographs. i click on a photograph, give it a name e.g. image 1 and then hit use selected photograph. i repeat this for the remaining five photographs naming them image 2, 3 on so on. i place a simple tag name such as school and write a brief description e.g. this is a sample photosynth. On clicking the synth button it appears as though my synth is creating. It then stops with an authentication error. i have a chance to retry but still i can get no further.
It sounds to me as though you are making things a little too complicated for yourself. You don't need to name each individual photo or click the [Use selected photo] button on each photo in the synth.
All .jpg or .jpeg images which are dragged into the synther will be uploaded in the synth. The [Use selected photo] button is only used to choose which photo you would like to use for the synth's thumbnail image on the Photosynth website.
Adding tags, adding a description, and choosing a privacy setting are nice things to do, but you can always add or change them after the synth uploads to the site. They aren't needed to upload the synth.
Things which cannot be changed after the synth is uploaded are:
Changing which photo is used as the synth's thumbnail,
Changing the license on your photos in an existing synth
I'm not sure what to tell you about the authentication error halfway through the upload. Usually if people have authentication troubles, it means they can't sign in to the synther program and if that is the case, they aren't able to add photos or begin a new synth at all. That is usually caused by their internet connection settings due to using a proxy connection or something similar. I've never heard of it cancelling a synth that is in the middle of uploading.
To be clear: all that is needed to upload a synth is three or more photos and a single title for the album/synth.
If you retry uploading your synth today and still experience the authentication error, please contact the Photosynth team at email@example.com and give them a link to this topic.
