Topic: Install/Create Loop

I have previously created synths without a problem. Today, the site said "Install Photosynth". Having downloaded and installed, the button turned into the "Create a Synth" but when I selected that, it reverted to "Install" again. I can't create anything! Any clues as to what's happening?

Hi, Jerry,

I'm not sure exactly what's going on. To me it sounds like your web browser has something wrong with either:
a) its cookies (you can delete your browser's cookies and if this is the problem, it should solve it but you will need to sign back into all the websites you use, so be sure that you remember all your passwords) or
b) its useragent (This is the line of text that your web browser sends to websites to tell them which web browser, which version number, and which web browser plugins are installed. I'm not sure what to do if this is the problem).

If that all sounds really complicated, don't worry about it. In order to create a new photosynth, you just use the Photosynth app for Windows.

You can launch this with the shortcut to the program in your Start menu with all your other programs. If you like, you can copy the shortcut to the app from your Start menu to your desktop.

If you have Windows Vista or above, you should be able to just search your Start menu with the built in search bar and the app's shortcut should pop right up.

If you can't find the shortcut but you know you have installed Photosynth's program on this computer, you could check in your 'Program Files' folder to make sure that the Photosynth app's folder is there. If it is, click on PSWebClient.exe and the app should open.

To make opening the app easier in the future, you can right click on PSWebClient.exe and select the 'Create a shortcut' option. Then drag that shortcut to either your Start Menu or Desktop folder.

If you'd like the full address on your disk of the location of the Photosynth app to paste into the address bar of 'Computer'/'My Computer'/'Windows Explorer' (I don't mean Internet Explorer.):

On 32-bit versions of Windows, it will look like:
C:\Program Files\Photosynth\PSWebClient.exe

On 64-bit versions of Windows, it may look like:
C:\Program Files\Photosynth (x86)\PSWebClient.exe

If you have trouble following my suggestions or you have more questions, please don't hesitate to ask for help.

Oh, correction of a typo in my last post.

On 64-bit versions of Windows, it may look like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Photosynth\PSWebClient.exe

Oh, one other note: If you cannot find that Photosynth's app is installed on Windows and you find that you are not able to download their installer due to this error, this link should work for you:

If you desire to upload panoramas to your account, rather than photosynths, then please use one of the following:
Microsoft ICE:
(best for ease of use + final resolution)

A plugin for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Express:
(best for editing out stitching errors before upload + final resolution)

Photosynth's app for mobile phones.
(best for ease of shooting, + mobile stitching and uploading. final resolution will be lowest of all options. )

Windows Phones: Not available yet, but you're next. | Watch this space:

Thanks for that. I've been able to launch Photosynth on my desktop, so the website bit can wait! I'll try another browser I think. Appreciate all of the comments.
