In respect to no sound set up an account at http://www.spreaker.com/home then embed the Synth and the Sound module into your site. an example is here: http://www.everypicturetellsastory.com/speaker.html Look forward to seeing more from you...great work!

Great synth! Marvellous focus.

@nars542, you are right, this would be really nice with some looping audio of the creek.

gtakacs (9 months ago)
Thanks guys! I actually just took these with my Nokia Lumia as a hand-held sequence. The depth of field effect was a happy coincidence, and slightly surprising considering the small aperture and full sun.

If you hit the 'm' key to show the mini-map, the camera motion is fairly steady when auto-played.

gtakacs (9 months ago)
I believe that this is caused by the relative spacing of the photos and the proximity to the objects. The flower photos were much closer together, but the camera speed along its trajectory is fixed for the whole synth. Just like a low-flying plane, it just appears to be moving faster.

nars542 (9 months ago)
Allow me a technical question: This synth starts very quickly when showing the flowers, then slows down a lot.How do you do that? More photos taken after the flowers?

@nars542: According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cairn, a cairn is man-made, but I'm not an expert.

nars542 (11 months ago)
Cairns are supposed to be made by Mother Nature?

Joscelin.Trouwborst (11 months ago)
I have come across these in the Caribbean and in the Andes. Didn't know they are called cairns and what they represent. Now, I could check Wikipedia. Thanks. And, very nice scenery!

gtakacs (11 months ago)
You are right, I didn't even notice the other pano. Every year these cairns get destroyed by the snow. There is a 2 meter tall cairn on the next ridge over to which we didn't quite make it.

nars542 (Over 1 year ago)
Well,I believe it must be a matter of getting used to high temperatures. One also has to consider what meteorologists call the "humidex factor".On the east coast of North America, when it's 33 degrees outside, one feel 41 degrees on the skin with the humidex factor.

gtakacs (Over 1 year ago)
It gets over 40 almost every day in the summer, and its very common to hit 45. I personally don't worry about the heat until it gets to 50... now THAT is a hot day!

nars542 (Over 1 year ago)
It's 33 degrees Celsius,(over 90 degrees F),today in Montreal and we find it unbearable here, except inside or in a pool.Is it even hotter in that region?

Saguaro Tilt 1
Saguaro Tilt 1
nars542 (Over 1 year ago)
@gtakacs: Here's what I believe is the explanation. In this synth,(Saguaro),your camera is tilting upwards, but staying in a lower position. In the Bravern synths, the camera was going staight up and thus was at the same elevation as the buidings you were aiming at.English being my second language,I don't know if this makes sense to you.

gtakacs (Over 1 year ago)
@nars542: That is interesting. I haven't had trouble with vertical camera motions. This is a panorama type, but I've also done vertical walls; for example, http://photosynth.net/preview/view/6ee9ed6f-3f07-45af-8ca1-01fb40cd15ab.

nars542 (Over 1 year ago)
I noticed in one of my synths,(that I deleted),that the program reacts strangely when the camera goes vertically up or down.

I think that its an illusion. I was actually in the back seat of a slowly moving car snapping pictures as fast as the camera could keep up. Thus it is literally a "Drive in."

nars542 (Over 1 year ago)
PS: Did you take a picture at every step, every two steps or even more steps between each photo?

nars542 (Over 1 year ago)
Watching this nice wall,I get the impression it is slow at the beginning and then accelerates when the little fence appears at the bottom of the photos.Am I right,or is it just some kind of optical illusion because of the fence?

Thanks. I completely agree with you about the image edges. As nice as the new panorama type is, it has this trade off in its current form. Fully stitched panoramas have sophisticated blending at the seams. These panoramas allow you to stop on an original image. However, due to vignetting in the camera, the edges of the frame tend to be slightly darker than the center, causing the edge to show.

E.P.T.A.S (Over 1 year ago)
Very nice... I have the same issue as you when I create a Pano...I would like the edge blend to be better, is the Synth team going to refine it?

Right. One of the advantages of Photosynth not requiring 360 over Google Photo Spheres, not to mention their aim for a full sphere.

gtakacs (Over 1 year ago)
Good question. I was standing directly in front of a very uninteresting wall with a hotel behind it. So, in short, artistic choice.
