North Kohala Lighthouse - Kite Aerial (KAP)

This synth was done from a kite aerial photography session at the lighthouse north of Kohala on the Big Island of Hawai`i. It was done during day two of Worldwide KAP Week 2009, an annual event where people doing kite aerial photography get out wherever they are and fly a camera.

The prevous day a storm front rolled in and drenched my gear before I could get it down. Everything dried out at Mahukona, and I came back the next day for another try at the lighthouse. This time, the weather worked out just fine.

Equipment Used:
Kite - Rokkaku
Line - #200 braided dacron
Rig - Brooks BBKK
Camera - Canon A650IS

i think this is the best kap synth yet! how close did the camera to the lighthouse? i'm thinking close judging by that shadow! keep up the good work.

It was... well, a couple of feet at most. If the wind hadn't been so steady I never would've risked it.

More to come! Worldwide KAP Week 2009 isn't even half over yet.
