Here it is - the lowest point in North America. There's a sign on the mountain near the parking area showing you where sea level is, 282 above. Also next to the parking area is a weather station that sometimes records the hottest temperatures in the world during the summer.
The salt flats are, well, pretty flat, and very salty. There is some mud, but nothing like the Devil's Golf Course - it's almost entirely pure white salt. It's INCREDIBLY bright, so wear sunscreen and sunglasses.
