A class of Year 3 children, from St. Ignatius College, Zebbug are embarking themselves in a new project. They are going to learn how to use the Photosynth programme.

The class teacher, Ms. Veronica Debono, initially chooses the place of interest and goes on site to make sure that the place is safe for the children. The children are going to visit St. Mary's Chapel in Zebbug. This chapel is found in the older part of the town.

A note is sent to all parents/guardians to inform them that on Thursday 4th February, 2010, the children will visit this chapel and are encouraged to bring their own digital camera to take as many photos as possible.

On site, the children and accompanying teaching staff (Ms. V. Debono - class teacher, Ms. M. Saliba – LSA, Ms. R. Camilleri – ICT teacher and Mr. E. Zammit – Assistant Head) take several photographs of the exterior of St. Mary’s Chapel.

Back at school, all photographs taken are downloaded on one computer and saved in a folder. All photographs are inserted in the Photosynth software and the project is created :)

The location chosen by the teacher is very interesting and I am sure the children appreciated going to a place different from the usual school-organised outings.

Many children do not appreciate the heritage of their home-town very often, and this made them aware that there are locations to appreciate even so close to home.

Hoping this will not be the last of such activities for our younger generations :)
